Carl served his country faithfully as a member of the United States Coast Guard for eight years. He worked at the Savannah Beach Nursing Home for ten years, was a member of the Savannah Fire Department for five years, and worked at Tyson Foods for ten years. Carl’s true passion was working in his yard as often as he could to keep his lawn fresh and his flowers blooming. On September 5, 2022, Carl departed this life and entered into eternal rest. Mr. Carl Isreal was born in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Willie Isreal Sr. and Lillian Clark Isreal on July 24, 1950.

They were his first choice for spending his loving time with. He instilled the importance of love and family bonding. No matter the circumstances, we were required to “STICK TOGETHER”. In his spare time, Sammie had a passion for writing poems and spending time with family.

During his time in Miami, Florida, he made a host of friends who will miss him dearly, as well as his childhood friends from Smithville, Americus and Albany Georgia. The present day West's Mortuary at 325 Drayton Street Montezuma remains on land purchased in 1949. Drayton Street is located one street west of GA highway 49 in the city limits. Throughout the years, the West's Mortuary porch was a welcomed spot that served as a nucleus for information exchange and community support. He returned after two years of military service and again went into business with Mr. Robert Johnson. After a year, he was able to become an independent businessman and purchased the business from Mr. Johnson who went into retirement.

Arthur Lee McCray was born in Lee County, Georgia on December 30, 1944, to the parentage of Willie Lou McCray and Alan Butler, both who proceeded him in death. After high school, he attended Fort Valley State University. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolyn Johnson Isreal on December 13, 1970. Terry Wynn, son of the late Rosa Wynn and Clifford Mitchell, was born September 9, 1957, in Macon County, Georgia. At the age of five, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he graduated in the Connecticut school system. She dedicated her life to God at the ripe old age of nine years old at New Hope Baptist Church. From that time forward, she worked in the “field” of God.

He was a 2022 graduate of Americus-Sumter County High School and was employed at Popeye’s Chicken.
